Abby appears to be some type of Coon/Vizsla maybe Pointer Mix?  She was in deplorable condition when rescued off of the streets.  Since she is now VERY HEALTHY, she has so much energy! This girl really needs a fenced yard and/or jogging partner becaue she loves to run!

Abby has tested heartworm negative, is current on her vaccines, she is on Heartworm preventative, spayed, and is microchipped.

Abby does well with medium and large dogs.  She really needs a backyard to run and play with her new family.  Her foster parents currently have a small dog, but Abby's play tends to be a little too rough.  When left alone she will bark only once or twice then she gets quite.  She also likes to run to the door when the doorbell rings!

Abby does not know many commands, but she is smart enough for someone to teach her.  She will run out the door if you are not careful, and has gotten out but we were very lucky to get her back with food and a whistle.   Abby also rides well in a car.

Abby definitely has hound in her because she likes to hunt.  She will get fixated on squirrels and other animals as prey.  She is so fixated on going after them you cannot get her to do anything else.  She is very strong.

Abby does love to snuggle and is cute and funny when she is cuddling.  She loves to play with squeaky toys, and will throw them up in the air, up over her head.  Abby will get a toy and run from one end of the house to the other.   She will sleep on the floor on a dog bed and has previously done well in a large crate.  However, she will also sleep with you in the bed or on the sofa if you want.  Like most dogs, Abby has chewed a few things like wood or her toys, so a good, safe recommended dental C.E.T. chew would help her.

Abby has stayed alone with the other large dog and has done well.  She did not do well with the small dog.  Abby most definitely needs some training as she will "counter surf" sometimes but we have been working on that.

Abby can be shy around new people, but once she knows them she warms up and is fine.  She does need to be worked with about jumping up onto people because she will sometimes do that.  Abby is a GREAT dog, and with training she will be a GREAT companion.
